New earrings! 12/01/2011
Just wanted to share this new earring design - I am so happy with the way these turned out, i made several pairs to have at the show this weekend in Jackson (Chimneyville). These are sterling silver, of course, hand-punched and brushed for a cool finish. I also have plans for necklaces & bracelets using this or a similar design but, alas, as always, many ideas, limited time. But look for these coming soon on my website and at shows. I'm having trouble coming up with a name for this design - is it "lacy"? or "techno"? hmmmm - i'll have to do some more thinking about this; got any ideas? let me know! 1 Comment Ready for that show? 11/29/2011
Whew - Thanksgiving is behind me; plenty of delicious food & wonderful company. Now, on to the business of getting ready for my next show, the FABULOUS Chimneyville Show in Jackson, Mississippi. If you have never visited this show, please consider it - it is an indoor event, hundreds of vendors selling the most wonderful, handmade items. I think this show is called a "craft" show but in my opinion, it is more of a "fine craft" or "fine art" show. Truly excellent artwork for sale. Well, no paintings or photography - does that mean it's not an "art" show? Not in my mind! Come see for yourself - this weekend, Saturday & Sunday, Ms. Trade Mart, downtown Jackson, MS. Tell them i sent you & come find me! Find more info here: www.mscrafts.org Vintage bracelet - inspiration 11/11/2011
This is a vintage bracelet I bought from a friend. Isn't it gorgeous? Inspiration everywhere, my friend! Keep your eyes open, always. New necklaces - for fun!! 11/11/2011
I just added these to my website and i just love them - the perfect little gift for yourself or someone else AND the sky's the limit when it comes to word on the disks! I cut the disks myself and hand stamp them - pretty organic and maybe a little funky looking? They can also be earrings - matching or not, which can be a lot of fun. I have plans to make bracelets as well - too many ideas, not enough time. Want to see more? Go HERE:) Logo 11/09/2011
So, this is my new logo/business card. it was designed by a very talented graphic designer out of lafayette. I'm happy with the color scheme and with my initials at the top - yes, this is actually how i sign my initials. the fleur de lis is meant to underscore the fact that i live and work in Louisiana - just a little nod to the French culture that permeates much of life here in south Louisiana. I wanted to post a couple of pictures of things i have been working on. This has been one of my most popular patterns for a couple of years and I recently completed a matching necklace with is truly luxurious. I think the "official" name of this weave is "helm" or "parallel" weave but I call it Vegas....for Las Vegas, slot machines going round & round, right? Just a few small changes.... 10/28/2011
so, the website has been up for a day or so and i have gotten a few comments re: changes that should be made so i have done that. Also decided to add RSS feed to this blog for those who want to easily follow along. i have had lots of positive comments about the site so i am happy with my efforts! Website Up! 10/26/2011
I am happy to welcome you to my new website and blog. It has been a long time coming and I am thrilled that it is finally online. We are right in the middle of fall festival season so I have been busy trying to make sure I have enough inventory for the shows I am committed to this fall. I have a couple of new things going on - first, I have been working quite a it in red brass (also known as Jeweler's gold or Nugold or Merlin's gold). This is a beautiful metal that has the look of gold with much less cost. It seems to "wear well" and does not tarnish (or develop "a patina", if you will) nearly as quickly as copper. In fact, i put a piece out on my deck two months ago and it has turned to a dark gold color with no evidence of anything i would call tarnish. It's quite lovely, actually. I'll put up some picutres as soon as i can. Secondly, i have started included a tiny handmade fleur de lis charm on all bracelets and necklaces. This is a little tribute to my adopted home state of Louisiana and i think it's a really nice addition to my pieces. Be well. First Post! 10/18/2011
Hi - this is my new blog. i have published other blogs in various places around the web - this is the latest. I plan to share what's going on in my jewelry business and other random thoughts because you know how it is - once you get going, it's hard to know when to stop. I hope this will be fun and interesting for everyone. "Buy the ticket, take the ride" Hunter S. Thompson | Laura Teague
