These little note cards are prints of original paintings by Louisiana artist, Shaun Aleman, from New Orleans. A sweet way to say "thinking of you"???
Honestly, just so much fun - Shaun is a wonderful Louisiana artist who paints on all sorts of things, including musical instruments - check out his art when you have a minute! www.shaunaleman.com That sweet little sterling silver stacking ring is available now on my website - click here to shop! Adam K. Hall (www.adamkhall.com) has been an artist friend for several years and I have wanted to own one of his paintings for a long time.
Finally, this week, I ordered this wonderful, colorful print of a New Orleans streetcar! I absolutely love it; the colors are the hook! That little silver ring? It's on my website - click here to go shop! Since we are staying at home alot (thanks to the pandemic) we are also doing quite a bit of cooking! I happen to love lima beans so last week I made a huge pot of beans with sausage - so delicious!
I just followed the recipe on the Camellia bag so thought I would include it here. Happy cooking, y'all! It's hard to see but that silver stacking ring is on my website now and, fyi, I am making more this week! Click here to see the rings in the store! The other day, the New Orleans Arts Market had a virtual art show and I wanted to do a little shopping/support my local arts community.
I searched around & finally settled on a couple of mugs by Amanda Proctor (amandaproctor.com). This mug and the other one I bought from Amanda will be gifts for later on this year! I am so happy with them - beautiful colors! Want to see more silver bracelets? Click here to see them all! The other day, the photographers from The Front Porch Project came to our house! They took several photos but this is one of our favorites. They are recording people all over town on their front porches as we are in this #stayathome mode - what a fun project!
Thanks for coming by, Jenn Ocken! (www.Facebook.com/JennOckenPhotography) Want to be first to see new jewelry designs from me, Laura Teague? Click the button below to sign up! New from the Jacks Collection - jacks silver earrings in a new longer length. To be fair, I have always made these earrings in two lengths but these are different because the "jacks" hang freely from a length of sterling silver chain! Cool silver dangle earrings!
Yes, these earrings are on my website - click here to shop the entire jacks collection now! Don't you just love Alex Cross and his sweet little family? I do. Some of these novels are a little too graphic for me but, overall, I love reading about these characters. AND I just realized there are over 20 books in the series. Yikes. I'll be reading these for awhile......
That little silver band ring is available in my online store - click here to take a look and treat yourself to a little silver stacking ring! I love to read and I am always looking for something good. Ideally, I like to find a good series so that I am "in books" for a couple of months but those are so hard to find. The last series I read that I really enjoyed was the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich.
Those books were everything I am looking for in a book - light-hearted, funny, interesting characters! Maybe it's just me (and I willing to bare my soul a little bit here) but I don't really want to think too hard when I read a novel. I just want to be entertained. You, too? Good! We could be best friends! :) That silver bracelet is available on my website - click here to get a closer look & shop! I have known how to knit for awhile and have wanted to learn to knit socks for a couple of years. In the fall, I had an opportunity to learn remotely from a friend in Mississippi so I jumped on it and have been hooked ever since!
I love knitting these things and you know the best part??? I get to buy all this fabulously lovely yarn!! Oh my goodness. So much fun. I thought knitting socks would be hard but really they aren't. They have to be done in a certain way, of course, but not hard. FUN!! That little silver thumb ring is for sale on my online store - click here to check it out! ![]() We have had a bay tree in the yard for a long time. It was given to us by the parents of a dear friend and we never bothered to use the leaves..... what were we thinking?? Anyway, last week, I decided to harvest some of those beautiful, spring green leaves and try to dry them! This is the first day - so fresh and green! I read that I should lay them out, not touching, in a shady place inside. We'll see how it goes! That little silver thumb ring/midi ring/stacking ring is available in my online shop - click here to check it out! ![]() Shaun Aleman is one of my very favorite local artists! His note cards are so beautiful and wait til you see some of this other, larger art (https://www.etsy.com/shop/ShaunAlemanArt)! I love notecards although I don't use them a lot. I try to buy cards that are handmade - they are like little works of art! That's my fave silver thumb ring - although of course you can wear it on any finger!! You can click here to check out the thin silver stacking rings! I love to bake bread! For the past few years, I have been making sourdough bread which, once I got the hang of it, is SO easy! I add all sorts of thing to it like flax seeds, oatmeal & other good things. It sometimes takes a little longer to rise at first with the add-ins but it always does rise and is delicious!
I usually start it at night, then turn it several times & allow it to rise, the bake it the next day, often in the morning but sometimes at night. So good! Click here to see the silver bracelets in my web store! I have been practicing my video skills and I think I'm getting better - just trying to show movement in some of my jewelry designs. This silver bracelet is made in the byzantine design - I love it because it's classic and elegant, not to mention beautiful! Click here to shop the silver bracelets! For awhile now I have been growing rosemary and I always have it right next to both my front and back doors so I can easily put my hand on it to smell it. Glorious! I don't really cook with it very often - I'm not really sure how to use it in cooking.
This sweet little vase is handmade by my friend Rocky Broome (www.RockysPots.com) - perfect for a little sprig of herbs or my little pansies. Click here to shop the little siver rings! I'm home of course, like everyone else I know so I have been doing more cooking than usual. I love to make bread & my son recently introduced me to focaccia sourdough bread so that has been a lot of fun to make (& so delicious to eat)!
This recipe for No-Bake Easy Granola Bars appeared in my inbox from www.CookieandKate.com and I knew I had to try it....they had me at "granola bars"!! I am so glad I did - it was wonderful!!! Chewy and full of good stuff - nuts, oats, vanilla - you know, all the tastiest things! That bracelet is available on my website - click here to go have a look at all the silver! I have been spending some time in the last week or so with my camera in video mode - playing around with making videos of some of my jewelry. Also, it's fun to watch the jewelry "in action" - most of my jewelry has a lot of movement so it's good to be able to see that!
I know that when you can hold jewelry in your hands, it's pretty hard to judge the size and how it will actually look on you. I'm hoping the videos will give you a better idea of the size and maybe the "feel" of the jewelry. These earrings are both on the website so you can click here to check them out; click here to get a closer look and shop the thin silver rings! Sign of the times. Every Thursday, a local restaurant near where we live sells a "package" with a dozen tamales and a roll of toilet paper! Kind of an odd combination but, these days, not so odd. AND, since we are running low on toilet paper and there is none in town and none online, we took them up on the offer for curbside service!
The tamales were delicious and the TP much appreciated! Thanks, Does Eat Place! If you want to be the first to see new jewelry designs and get in on private sales, click the button to sign up for my email list! ![]() I have recently learned to knit socks and have discovered that it is something I love to do. I t's a small project I can carry with me and just knit a little bit at a time. I get to work with (and, yes, buy) all sorts of absolutely beautiful yarn. I end up with a lovely pair of one of a kind socks to enjoy! If you have ever wanted to try to knit socks, I can recommend the Marly Bird sock knitting series on YouTube. She makes it really easy! Lots of cool chain bracelets in my online store, including the one pictured here! Click here to shop all the bracelets! ![]() My older son is a cook. No, he doesn't get paid to cook but he is a super cook. Now & then he sends me a recipe for something he has made that he thinks is simple enough for me to make (I am not particularly a good cook) but that is still tasty. He had been talking about this focaccia bread for awhile and, when he sent me the recipe earlier this week, I jumped right in made it. Talk about GOOD...and SIMPLE!! It's a sourdough recipe and it was wonderful. I am so happy to have a son who can cook!! There are lots of handmade sterling silver bracelets in my online shop - click here to check them all out & do some shopping! |
