Do you remember those carefree days of childhood, when we felt a sense of joy around the simple things we did for entertainment - like making necklaces from clover or daisy flowers? Those are the days I was thinking about when I designed this jewelry collection - I wanted to put that feeling of joy into jewelry that you could wear everyday and be reminded of another place and time as you go about your day!

All sorts of ways to photograph jewelry! I was trying to see how I could photograph this necklace so that you could actually see the detail in the "jacks" components and decided to try this - getting the front of the necklace closer to the camera seems to help!
That necklace is in my online store now -click here if you want to have a closer look! I love the silver necklace but, I gotta say, I'm really like the turquoise nail polish, too! So much fun and we are in quarantine, after all so, why not have fancy nails??
Click here if you want to see all the necklaces currently available in my online store! The other day, I was talking to a friend about needing some new signs to display in my booth at art shows. She suggested the possibility of a "magazine cover" lookalike so I started playing around with that idea in Canva (my fav photo editing software).
I created a LOT of so-so magazine covers but this one seemed ok. I haven't had it printed to use but I might do so. That necklace is part of the "Jacks Collection" of silver jewelry and it's available in my online store - go here to see the whole collection! I have beome enamored by black jewelry - I just love it. AND it's the perfect time of year for black jewelry - dead of winter, things are dark & dreary in many parts of the country plus, guess what?
Oxidized silver jewelry, aka black jewelry, is completely carefree!! That's right, it's already completely and totally oxidized so you NEVER have to polish it. Sure, you might clean it now & then with a little warm water & soap but that's IT. Nothing else to do to keep it looking like new! These black jewelry pieces will be on the website soon - click here to sign up for the email list so you don't miss it when they hit the website! It's a process, taking photos of my jnew jewelry. First the right camera (the phone is great for some things, like this candid shot, but for great photos, I had to get a new camera. I love this one but, you know, yes, there was definitely a learning curve! Not to mention the remote shutter release to get rid of that pesky shake that inevitably happens when I push the shutter release button on the camera itself. Finally got everything working yesterday and took the photo below -happy with it!!
Those jewelry pieces will be on the website in February...or maybe before. Sign up for my email list so that you never miss new jewelry on the website! Oh, the hours we all spent playing "jacks" when we were kids!!! I love to think about those carefree, (mostly) happy times. With this silver jewelry, I am reminded of those times everytime I wear one of these pieces! So much fun!! Do you remember?? Go here to check out this fun silver jewelry collection!!
This is a new necklace and earring set - so new that it's not even on the website yet. Pure sterling silver, of course and the necklace is long enough to be worn a couple of different ways. It can be worn traditionally, as shown, or as a lariat with the clasp centered in the front and a long drape of necklace below the clasp or with the clasp positioned in the front at the side - options are good!
The earrings are on my online shop so you can go here to shop those sterling silver earrings but the necklace has not quite made it to the shop yet! Click the button below to join my email list to be first to know when new jewelry hits the website! This is one of my favorite sterling silver necklaces; it's fairly thin but extra long, which I love. Long necklaces have been popular for awhile but this is the first time I have made one of my silver chain link necklaces in this longer length.
The stacking rings you can barely see in this photo (I wear them with my wedding ring but a little pop of mixed metal) are in my online store - click here to get a closer look at those little rings. The long silver chain necklace is not on the website just yet but it will be soon - click the button below to join my email list so you will be first to know when it hits the website! I just added this fun new necklace to the website - inspired by the childhood game of "jacks"!! My friends and I spent hours & hours playing this game - what a magical time that was - full of simple pleasures in the company of good friends!
I liked this necklace so much I put it on my new postcards - I like the fresh, contemporary look of these cards! That bracelet is available in my store- click here to see all the details! This is one of the very first pieces of jewelry I made using oxidized sterling silver as the base, with freshwater pearls (lots & lots of freshwater pearls), accented with gold. Definitely a learning curve learning to oxidize silver and get it as black as I pictured it in my head but I was finally happy with the result. Big black statment necklace with pearls!
This necklace is available in my online store - Click here to check it out & shop! At the Pink Palace Craft Show in Memphis, TN this past week, we had major rain the first day. All. Day. Long.
Fortunately, the next two days of the show were bright and sunny and 74 degrees! Just perfect. Sometimes, outdoor craft shows are a pleasure and sometimes they are kind of a grind. It's nice when things turn around! I had the complete "family" of jacks-inspired sterling silver jewelry out for the first time. Lots of attention, especially to the necklace pictured above, which is now sold out! Want to see the matching bracelet? Click here to see! Go here to see another related jacks-inspired bracelet! A couple of months ago, I picked up this popular book called "Joyful". It was fun to read - a lot of info about what research tells us makes people feel joy. I have forgotten some of the other things, but one thing that stuck with me was the idea of color as a joyful things. The author talks about how we have been taught (or we have just absorbed the idea) that black and other "neutral" colors are more "elegant" and refined and that using or wearing bright colors is somehow garish and "inappropriate".
I am a person who LOVES color. All colors. My closet is full of bright hues of green, blue, pink. Often my favorite clothes are a combination of lots of different colors - a "riot" of color is really what I love. One of the rooms in my house is painted green with purple accents. But, for years, my jewelry display has been black and white. Oh, sure, I said I used a little red but really it was just a hint of red and only in my logo. So, this week, I let my inner color lover out. I chose a couple of dramatic colors to use with my jewelry - a wonderful purple-y mauve color and a medium lime green. It is so much warmer, friendly, livier, happier and, yes, more joyful! That joyful necklace is coming very soon to the website - click below to join my email list to be the first to know when new jewelry designs hit the website!

This jacket. Did you know you can wear this type of jacket all year long, even in this hot as can be southeastern part of the US?
Winter? Yes, on those mild sunny days (we have a lot of those where I live). Spring? Perfection. Fall? Just right, a little extra cover on those nice cool nights. Summer? Oh, yes. So honored to be asked to create a handmade necklace for this wonderful organization to be gifted to the outgoing board president using the logo as inspiration.
When I look at this logo, I see lots of movement - it's a really dynamic looking image, so the finished silver necklace needed to reflect that sense of movement. The primary metal I use in my jewelry is sterling silver and that was my choice for this piece. I also noticed that the ovals in the logo were of different sizes, reinforcing the sense of movement. For the final design, I created ovals of various sizes and lightly hammered them to reflect the light and enhance the feeling of movement. Each silver oval hangs freely from the small handmade silver chain that holds everything in place. Lots of movement! I just got word that those who ordered this silver link necklace love the design! Don't you love it when you work hard at something and it all works out? Best. Feeling. Ever. Although this design is not available on the website, you can see more necklaces by clicking HERE. Brand new collection in bright sterling silver and oxidized silver! Carefully hammered with that special hammer that I bought not too long ago! (Click HERE if you want more info on the hammer I used & why it's so special!)
Pictured above is the small black disc pendant on a bright sterling silver ball chain. Look for more jewelry coming soon to this collection! Why is this handmade sterling silver necklace so popular? One word: because it's just plain FUN to wear, that's why! It's got lots of jingly, jangly parts (not that you can actually HEAR the parts jingling, but you get the idea) AND it will get you a nice bit of attention and compliments - WHY? Because this handmade necklace is just that different! ~scroll down to have a look at the matching dangle earrings~ By the way, I call these two pieces "waterfall" because that's exactly what they remind me of! Nothing could be better or fresher than clover jewelry for springtime! Above is the necklace, below, earrings! Clover jewelry is great - such fun!
1. black felt hat 2. denim jacket 3. large tote 4. Handmade sterling silver persian necklace 5. sunglasses 6. silk plant 7. brown sandals 8. silk dress Here in south Louisiana, it is just starting to get cool. Since we love our summer dresses, it's easy to extend the wear for these dresses into the fall with a jacket - denim is always correct! Change the sandals for short boots and you are in business for the fall! ![]() Getting new photographs of my chunky sterling silver necklaces and trying to decide whether to use the interesting, asymmetrical black top or the red top, which gives the jewelry a more sophisticated look. It seems that the red top sort of "frames" the necklace so I think that may be better.
![]() It is finally back to school time here in south Louisiana - the schools were in session for only one day before the floods came and now the schools are slowly getting back up to speed. Back to school time also heralds the eminent arrival of fall, which is never far away once the kids get back to school. We are looking forward to cooler weather and cozy inside time with with friends and family. At this time of year there are also lots of articles and blogs that talk about jewelry and fashion "trends" for fall/winter, 2016-2017. I, for one, enjoy looking at trending fashion but rarely follow it; I am much more comfortable depending on my tried and true classics to get me through my days. As it happens, one of my favorite "trending" pieces this fall is pearl jewelry. Both classic and trending, best of both worlds! Pearls go with everything in your closet and are easily dressed up or down; but you knew that, didn't you? ![]() Another trend this season is stacking rings, which many of us have worn and enjoyed for years; so we can wear our favorite classic jewelry pieces and still be in style! It's a win-win! There are other trends, to be sure and we can all enjoy and be entertained by them. As for me, I will stick to the classics! How about you? Do you have a favorite trending jewelry piece or do you set your own trend? I would love to hear from you! Sign up here to join my email list for monthly free shipping coupons on the website! ![]() I have been so excited about this new collection! It has been in the works for at least a year and it is specifically for those who would prefer a somewhat "daintier" look. You will recognize some original designs, made in a smaller format just for this collection, as well as some new designs. In the photo to the left, you will see, on top, the original "Persian" necklace - below, the same design in the "Little Luxuries" Collection. Several of the new jewelry designs, especially the earrings, have tiny gemstones added. If you look at the collection of new earrings, you will see the gemstones I am currently using including freshwater pearls, lapis lazuli, rose quartz (one of Pantone's two colors of the year this year) and amethyst. This new jewelry collection is called Little Luxuries because of it is a petite version of original "Luxury" Collection. Each component is, as always, made in my studio in both a smaller size ring and a smaller diameter wire. The result is a wonderfully luxurious and dainty piece of jewelry, perfect for you or for gifting. You can see the entire collection, including the tiny earrings with gemstones, by going to the Little Luxuries Collection here. |
