Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival: Fairhope, Alabama

If you are looking for handmade silver jewelry, including silver earrings, sterling silver bracelets and unique necklaces, Fairhope is going to be the place to be this coming weekend!

The 67th Annual Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival in Fairhope, Alabama is happening March 15, 16, & 17, 2019 in downtown Fairhope. Festival hours are Friday thru Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival is free to the public and more than 230 exhibitors from all over the country will bring their best works. This prestigious juried show showcases artists from across the country. There will be live entertainment and delicious food throughout the event.

Jewelry photography......challenges!

How to photograph jewelry.....I need an in depth, online course to photograph tiny, shiny things!!!

Shiny things are a special challenge - so much reflection! I even have to wear a white shirt when I take photos so that the silver doesn't reflect color.

Long drop earrings (like these or especially these) are especially difficult because they don't want to be STILL for the photo. Even a tiny bit of movement can cause a little blur in the photo.

Travel Louisiana - Oak Alley Plantation

Last week, our cousin was in town so we decided to do a little site seeing while she was here. Lots of plantation choices but which plantation to see? We finally decided on Oak Alley, and we are so glad we did. It's a lovely place on a beautiful piece of property and the tour was very nice. They actually tried to find a balance between the folks who lived in the "big house" and those enslaved people who actually BUILT that entire house!

A little celebration of the craftsmanship of the slaves.

The slave quarters are also "restored" so you can get a tiny peek into that world. Humbling to walk where those people lived and worked.

One last thing - a HUGE gift shop and even a bar right on site. It's a pretty amazing place - go it you get a chance!
