Last week, we were in California at this wonderful farmer's market and today, we are back home in Baton Rouge. Time flies.
Apparently it's grape season in southern California and the abundance and variety of grapes was astounding to me. Talk about creating joy - yes!!! I just got back from a trip visiting our son in California. Before we left, there was some fairly heavy stress in my life - a very sick relative, a busy time preparing for this trip and several others coming up this fall. Anyway, once we left on our driving trip to California, I decided to spend the trip looking for things that gave me joy.
This was the first thing I saw on the trip that made me laugh out loud - this crazy fun set of salad serving "forks". So many colors! So much abandon and abundance of colors!! I thought, that's what joy is - things that you see or hear that, when you see or hear it, you just spontaneously laugh! That little silver ring is available in my online store - go here to check it out! If you want to join my email list so that you don't miss out on any new jewelry designs, click here to sign up! I am totally loving these new jewelry tags! I use them for silver bracelets and necklaces and they are perfect. You can't see it, but there is room on the back to put a small price tag along with the inventory number.
That little silver thumb ring is available on my website - go here to shop the silver stacking rings! I am seeing a lot of my studio lately - getting ready for an art show like St. James Court in Louisville, Kentucky means making new silver jewelry, taking photos of the new jewelry, cleaning and polishing the jewelry, pricing and packing.
This year, I even rethought my booth colors (basically, it had no color in the past, which I thought was elegant and perfect at the time) and had new posters made to hang in the booth....PLUS new business cards and postcards to reflect the new "feel" of the booth. I love the new colorful booth! It's playful and bold and eye-catching! It's going to be a fun place to be for three days this year in Louisville! Click here if you want to join my email list - you'll be the first to see new designs as soon as they hit the website! We will be on the road for 2 back to back art shows starting October 4th in Louisville, Kentucky for the St. James Court Art Show, then on to the Pink Palace Art Show in Memphis, Tennessee the following weekend!
So, I am cleaning and polishing all the silver jewelry, pricing, packing & generally getting everything ready to go. We are REALLY hoping for cooler weather on this trip -it's been SO HOT here in south Louisiana!! Want to know when new jewelry hits the website? Join our email list to be the first to know! A couple of months ago, I picked up this popular book called "Joyful". It was fun to read - a lot of info about what research tells us makes people feel joy. I have forgotten some of the other things, but one thing that stuck with me was the idea of color as a joyful things. The author talks about how we have been taught (or we have just absorbed the idea) that black and other "neutral" colors are more "elegant" and refined and that using or wearing bright colors is somehow garish and "inappropriate".
I am a person who LOVES color. All colors. My closet is full of bright hues of green, blue, pink. Often my favorite clothes are a combination of lots of different colors - a "riot" of color is really what I love. One of the rooms in my house is painted green with purple accents. But, for years, my jewelry display has been black and white. Oh, sure, I said I used a little red but really it was just a hint of red and only in my logo. So, this week, I let my inner color lover out. I chose a couple of dramatic colors to use with my jewelry - a wonderful purple-y mauve color and a medium lime green. It is so much warmer, friendly, livier, happier and, yes, more joyful! That joyful necklace is coming very soon to the website - click below to join my email list to be the first to know when new jewelry designs hit the website! We are leaving soon on a driving trip to California to visit our oldest son and his wife! I am looking forward to this trip for so many reasons - family visit, driving trip, enjoy the beautiful southwest and western US, mostly computer-free, AND....one of my very favorite things to do: we love to go to out of the way places and look for beautiful and unusual rocks!
So I am sitting here with my coffee and one of my favorite rockhounding guide books, planning the drive! Oh, the rocks we'll see! That silver bracelet is BRAND NEW on the website - it's part of my Jacks Collection, inspired by the game of jacks most of us played as kids. This collection is so much fun to wear and it reminds you of those childhood days everytime you wear it! Click here to see the new silver bracelet and here to see the entire collection of jacks jewelry. I'm adding new pieces to this collection often, so sign up for my email list if you want to be the first to see the new designs as soon as they hit the website! The other day, I was watching a video about something - maybe email marketing or maybe using Pinterest in your business, and the speaker was drinking from an amazingly beautiful black and white coffee mug. I couldn't get that coffee mug out of my head so, when the video ended, I emailed the speaker and told her that I really needed a mug like the one she was using in the video. She told me the artist is Elizabeth Benotti (https://elizabethbenotti.com/) so, now I am the proud owner of one of Elizabeth's mugs! Happy dance!
The little silver stacking ring (I use it as a thumb ring) is available in my online store - you can click here to check it out! Click the button below to join my email list for first look at new designs! Earlier today I was at a local and delicious coffeeshop (www.Lighthouse.coffeebr.com) and saw this very cute little clutch. It's actually a holder for essential oils but, anyway, what I noticed was that this cute little oil holder exactly matches the colors on my website! I just recently added a little (ok, a lot) of color to my website so now I see these colors everywhere I go. I love them - so bright and cheerful!!
