It's cool and rainy here in south Louisiana after what seemed like an endless summer...and not in a good way. It was too hot for too long.
Today I am remembering a wonderful trip we took this summer to visit family in southern California. I love southern California...as long as we are at the beach, anyway. What a wonderful place. That sterling silver thumb ring is available on my website - click here to pick up a few for yourself!

Today (well, tomorrow, really since today is Sunday....) I'll be putting the last of the orders from my first ever website sale into the mail! This was a BIG sale and a lot of fun for the 24 hours it lasted! So much fun I'll be doing it again!
Click the button below to join my email list so you don't miss the next sale - the sales are ONLY for those on my email list!! This is one of the very first pieces of jewelry I made using oxidized sterling silver as the base, with freshwater pearls (lots & lots of freshwater pearls), accented with gold. Definitely a learning curve learning to oxidize silver and get it as black as I pictured it in my head but I was finally happy with the result. Big black statment necklace with pearls!
This necklace is available in my online store - Click here to check it out & shop! At an art show in Memphis, TN, my booth was near this wonderful potter named David Johnson (www.DavidJohnsonCeramics.com). I had been looking for the right pieces of handmade pottery to use to display my handmade silver bangle bracelets - when I saw David's work, I knew I had found what I was looking for!
My only problem was choosing a color - I finally settled on this color combo and I am really happy with it! Those silver bangle bracelets are for sale on my website - click here to get a closer look and shop!
YES, this is the most wonderful cloth for polishing silver! In fact, guess what? It also polishes:
mirrors brass bronze glass gold (yes, gold!!) and so many other things! Use it til it's black then replace. Don't wash it - that will get rid of all the good stuff that does the polishing! Need one? Sign up for my email list & I'll be sure to let you know when they are back on the website! (Or, you know, do a quick google search & find one right now!) That bracelet? It's in my online store - click here to shop! Sometimes when the weather is not just right at a craft show, I turn to making jewelry to amuse myself. It's easy because I LOVE to make jewelry and, this time, I brought along both pink gold and yellow gold rings I made the week before so I got to play with those cool metals. I'll be finishing this bracelet up before long and will have it on the website!

Fortunately, the next two days of the show were bright and sunny and 74 degrees! Just perfect. Sometimes, outdoor craft shows are a pleasure and sometimes they are kind of a grind. It's nice when things turn around! I had the complete "family" of jacks-inspired sterling silver jewelry out for the first time. Lots of attention, especially to the necklace pictured above, which is now sold out! Want to see the matching bracelet? Click here to see! Go here to see another related jacks-inspired bracelet! Last weekend at the Pink Palace Crafts Festival in Memphis, Tennessee, I was given a Merit Award for this brand new, jacks inspired sterling silver bracelet. I was totally surprised and thrilled - recognition is always a good thing!
The bracelet is available in my online store so you can click here to head on over & check it out! My friend, Rocky Broome (www.rockyspots.com), from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, make pottery. Glorious, beautiful pottery! This mug in her new "seafoam" design was calling my name so I am happy to say that this mug now lives at my house. You see me here "trying it on" at an art show in Louisville. I LOVE this beautiful little mug!!!
You can click here to see the sterling silver chain bracelet on the left and here to see the one in the middle! This book was recommended to me by Megan Auman (www.meganauman.com) and, since I already had Brene Brown's other book (which I can't remember the name of) on my "must read" list, I decided to go ahead & ask Mr. Amazon to send me both of them ASAP.
I started reading this last night and here's what I can tell you. I am 15 pages in and this book is going to change my life. I am almost in tears as I type that. She talks about courage (the everyday type, not the "i'm a hero" type), connection and compassion in ways that are real and "actionable", if that makes sense. It's almost reading like a how-to book of how to be a better person. In fact, it IS a how-to book. Ok, i'm going to go read now. :) Those stacking rings? They are in my online store - click here to shop them now! I just got home last night after being on the road for almost 2 weeks. We had an art show in Louisville, Kentucky (St. James Court Art Show) followed by the Pink Palace Art Festival in Memphis, Tennessee. So, at the end of the second weekend, this is where I am - at my favorite restaurant in Memphis: Amerigo Italian Restaurant, enjoying a nice glass of white wine. Oh, yes.
And two silver bracelets from my private stash - BIG, FIRST TIme EVER sale coming to the website November 7th! Sign my email list below so you don't miss out on the sale! I enjoy photography as a hobby so, sometimes, when I am at an art show, I play around with different photographing my silver jewelry. This was kind of a happy accident - I was at the St. James Court Art Show this past weekend and, just before the show opened, I decided to see how it could look to photograph this new silver bracelet on a mirror. I like the sharpness of the image but I especially like the reflection of the trees!
This bracelet is in my online store - CLICK HERE to shop now! Well, it's still pretty hot here where we live in the deep south. I keep hearing that fall is coming but....I'm not seeing or feeling it yet. So, iced coffee is the drink of the day! Jack Reacher is a knight in shinig armor. Bigger than life, literally. He always wins the fight and he always gets the girl. (Total aside, have you noticed that the girls/women always seem to look alike? Reacher/Child definitely seem to have a "type"!) The earrings inspired by the game of jacks have been my most popular earrings for a long time (go here to see the original "jacks" earrings) but some people prefer longer earrings. Enter the jacks earrings in this new, longer length. They still look like jacks but a lot more movement & whimsy!
