 We have taken lots of "mini" road trips in the past year. We love to travel and, with our sons living several states away, we missed that a lot so we started taking day trips. One of our favorite places to go was Ponchatoula, LA. At just about 45 minutes from our home, it was an easy drive and provided a nice place to walk around and window shop the antique stores. Another favorite was Ann Brown Preserve near St. Fancisville. This place seems like an undiscovered gem, providing a nice easy walk in the woods and the terrain is hilly!!! What a concept.  Oh, my goodness, guys, this fabric!!! I collect all sorts of fabric, some incredible, some not so much. This fabric is amazingly beautiful. It's from the designer Kaffe Fassett and his colors are the best. Plus the fabric is soft and lovely pure cotton. What's not to love? This bag is perfect for storing all sorts of things; I use it for knitting WIP (works in progress) but, honestly, it's a great size for all sorts of things.  Turns out I really enjoying sewing small projects of functional things. Dresses & other clothing? Not so much but I LOVE sewing small things like project bags for knitting, makeup bags all sorts of bags for all sorts of uses. So much fun when you are stuck in the house!
These little bags are even great for jewelry - I have started keeping a little project or zippered bag in my car with the "essentials", as you see above...including jewelry for when I rush out of the house & forget to put on jewelry....just the basics, right??  These little pliers right here are my favorite tool ever for making jewelry. A little on the pricy side, yes, but not terrible and the last a LONG time. Real workhorses. So worth the money. I have built my collection of tools a little at a time over several years; so good to have high quality tools!
 Because I have discovered knitting during the panemic, I also rediscovered a love of sewing. Put those two things together and you get lots & lots of handknit socks PLUS handmade project bags for knitting as well as these narrow bags to store all the knitting needles! And you gotta love that cotton fabric! This is the smaller version for DPNS, other shorter knitting needles and small circular needles. I also made a larger/longer version for single point longer knitting needles so that you can store your entire collection of needles in one place! Yay!   I just made this super cute and Louisiana (or coastal anyway) themed pouch and it's useful for so many things. I sometimes have to remove a bracelet or two when I am doing certain things so I throw them in this little zippered bag to keep them safe. Sunglasses? No problem - they can go in the bag, too! Checkbook - right, it pretty much lives in this little pouch!
Then, the pouch goes into my bigger bag and, when I get home, I can easily pull things out to store them in their correct places at home! Win! |
