So honored to be asked to create a handmade necklace for this wonderful organization to be gifted to the outgoing board president using the logo as inspiration.
When I look at this logo, I see lots of movement - it's a really dynamic looking image, so the finished silver necklace needed to reflect that sense of movement. The primary metal I use in my jewelry is sterling silver and that was my choice for this piece. I also noticed that the ovals in the logo were of different sizes, reinforcing the sense of movement. For the final design, I created ovals of various sizes and lightly hammered them to reflect the light and enhance the feeling of movement. Each silver oval hangs freely from the small handmade silver chain that holds everything in place. Lots of movement! I just got word that those who ordered this silver link necklace love the design! Don't you love it when you work hard at something and it all works out? Best. Feeling. Ever. Although this design is not available on the website, you can see more necklaces by clicking HERE. One of my favorite silver stacking rings and one of my favorite handmade cups!
Don't you love owning things that just make you happy every time you look at them? I would say silver stack rings are a new jewelry trend but, really, did they ever go out of style? I don't think so! Click here to get a few stacking rings for yourself!
So.....I decided I needed a "real" camera to take better photos of my jewelry. Here are the things I learned along the way (so far): 1. It won't be cheap. Don't even try. Just do the research and buy the camera. 2. It will take some (significant) amount of time to get good pics. Point & shoot? Not so much. 3. Fstop? Aperture? Shutter speed? ISO? White balance? Exposure compensation? Yes. You have to learn all the things about the camera & how it works. 4. Tiny shiny things are really hard to photograph. Ok, I'll already knew this but I am learning it all over again 5. The number of people you ask about the quality of your new photos will equal the number of different opinions you will get about your photos. 6. EDITING. 7. Keep moving, keep shooting, keep adjusting ![]() Want to follow along as I figure this out and find out about new designs? Click here to join my list!
