Last week we were in Arizona and New Mexico for an art show and on the way home, we took our time and went to some amazing rock hounding spots! Our favorite places to pick up rocks are in New Mexico - it seems that so many of the Arizona places are pretty difficult to get to.

At an art show in Memphis, TN, my booth was near this wonderful potter named David Johnson (www.DavidJohnsonCeramics.com). I had been looking for the right pieces of handmade pottery to use to display my handmade silver bangle bracelets - when I saw David's work, I knew I had found what I was looking for!
My only problem was choosing a color - I finally settled on this color combo and I am really happy with it! Those silver bangle bracelets are for sale on my website - click here to get a closer look and shop! YES, this is the most wonderful cloth for polishing silver! In fact, guess what? It also polishes:
mirrors brass bronze glass gold (yes, gold!!) and so many other things! Use it til it's black then replace. Don't wash it - that will get rid of all the good stuff that does the polishing! Need one? Sign up for my email list & I'll be sure to let you know when they are back on the website! (Or, you know, do a quick google search & find one right now!) That bracelet? Fortunately, the next two days of the show were bright and sunny and 74 degrees! Just perfect. Sometimes, outdoor craft shows are a pleasure and sometimes they are kind of a grind. It's nice when things turn around! I had the complete "family" of jacks-inspired sterling silver jewelry out for the first time. Lots of attention, especially to the necklace pictured above, which is now sold out! Want to see the matching bracelet? Click here to see! Go here to see another related jacks-inspired bracelet! We had an art show in Louisville, Kentucky (St. James Court Art Show) followed by the Pink Palace Art Festival in Memphis, Tennessee. So, at the end of the second weekend, this is where I am - at my favorite restaurant in Memphis: Amerigo Italian Restaurant, enjoying a nice glass of white wine. Oh, yes.

Jack Reacher is a knight in shinig armor. Bigger than life, literally. He always wins the fight and he always gets the girl. (Total aside, have you noticed that the girls/women always seem to look alike? Reacher/Child definitely seem to have a "type"!) So I am sitting here with my coffee and one of my favorite rockhounding guide books, planning the drive! Oh, the rocks we'll see! Where I live in south Louisiana, you just NEVER wear a turtleneck in the summertime. Not ever. Even if the A.C. is blowing cold right down your neck. You just don't do it.
However, here I am in a black turtleneck right in the middle of the hottest part of the summer. Why, you ask? Very good question. Turns out that silver jewelry just looks great against black. Better than against skin. Better than against almost anything. So, when it was time to take photos of this bracelet, I searched the back of my closet and came up with this black turtleneck, just for the photos. Tough job but somebody had to do it! The silver bracelet is available in my online store - you can click here to shop! Want to see new designs before anybody else? Click the button below to sign up for my email list! I was at a craft show last spring and was next to one of my favorite artists and people, Alex Williams of Potsalot Pottery in New Orleans.
I didn't have the right sort of container for my silver stacking rings so I wandered over to Alex's booth and browsed around at his little bowls - found this little piggy bowl and loved it so took it "home" to my booth &, for the rest of the show, my little silver rings lived his this bowl! This is my favorite little leather bag. I bought it a long time ago and really thought I paid too much for it but, you know what?
I use this little bag ALL THE TIME. I am trying to teach myself that it's ok to spend money on myself for things I will LOVE for years and get so much pleasure from. I come from a long line of folks who are very careful with their money but I have decided that life is too short not to enjoy what I do have. Oh, sure, I'm not going to just throw money around - I don't have that kind of money anyway so even if I wanted to, that's not going to happen. But for something I love? For something I can't get out of my head even when I walk away and stay away from the thing for awhile? I'm going to buy it for me. And enjoy it every day of my life! That little dainty silver bracelet is for sale in my online store now - click here to check it out! Want first look at new jewelry designs? Click here to sign up for my email list! This is one of my favorite sterling silver bracelets - it's called "rope chain" but it's really a double rope chain - nice and dense but still with plenty of flexibility. Who would want to wear a stiff silver bracelet? Nobody, that's who.
This bracelet is available in my online store -click here to shop now! I love this sweet little hand painted vase by Louisiana potter, Rocky Broome (www.RockysPots.com) I got a beautiful, functional piece of pottery plus a mini painting!! Win Win!
That big silver bracelet is available in my online shop - go here to see it up close! Remember these little "Viewmaster" toys? You could put those little circle discs in with the tiny slides & see the small scenes in (sort of) 3-D! I think mine was red & I spent lots of hours with it. A magical world before electronics!
Well, I saw this one, with lots of "viewing discs" (I'm not sure what they are actually called....) at a garage sale recently for $15.00 and I didn't buy it. What in the world was I thinking??? Talk about something that would have made me happy everytime I looked at it! So guess what? Now I am looking on Ebay and I am determined to buy one - a red one if at all possible. I NEED this in my life (again). So, into Ebay land I go - wish me luck! The clover chain (or daisy chain) silver bracelet was inspired by the clover chains I used to make when I was a child - the clover chains were happening at about the same time as the Viewmaster!
